Nintendo has finally given fans a closer look at the highly anticipated game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The new gameplay footage provides a sneak peek into what fans can expect from the game’s world, combat, and characters.
Presented by Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma himself, this 10-minute-depth preview is the most significant insight into Tears of the Kingdom available to date. This holds particular significance as Nintendo has been incredibly secretive after announcing its development during the 2019 E3 Nintendo Direct.
In an exciting revelation, Aonuma confirmed in the video that development on Tears of the Kingdom is officially complete. Alongside this announcement comes news that there will be a special release version of the much-talked-about game that will be bundled with a Switch OLED model. It features Hylian crest designs on its console dock and controllers.
Originally envisioned to be an expansion in Breath of the Wild game released in 2017 as DLC, Aonuma shared that the team had “too many ideas” for new DLC. As such, they decided to create a new game altogether following feedback from fans.
As earlier reported, Tears of Heaven is expected to retail for $70 and will be the first Nintendo-published game ever sold at that price point come May 12th, 2023. According to president Doug Bowser merchandise featuring Heart containers and themed recipes called ‘Zelda Plates’ would accompany physical copies if pre-ordered through participating retailers in Japan.
Furthermore, Bowser assures fans that Tears Of The Kingdom is certainly worth its high price tag when fans discover just how “immersive” their new Zelda adventure is supposed to be.
“I think fans will find this is an incredibly full, deeply immersive experience,” shared Bowser earlier this year. “The price point reflects the type of experience that fans can expect when it comes to playing this particular game. It’s actually a fairly common pricing model either here or in Europe or other parts of the world, where the pricing may vary depending on the game itself.”
While Tears of the Kingdom will be retailing at $70, fans have various options to bring down the price. One such option is purchasing Switch game vouchers and utilizing them to get two games for just $100. The pre-order promotion in Japan also includes some coveted cutlery that fans can take home as an added bonus.
With so much hype around this upcoming release, Nintendo fans all over the world are looking forward to experiencing what many hope will be one of Nintendo’s most impressive and immersive releases yet.
