The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 launch is still months away, but rumours and leaks surrounding the upcoming foldable smartphone are already surfacing. Recently, alleged case renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 have been leaked online, hinting at a similar design language to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 4. However, the location of the LED flash has moved from the bottom of the camera module to the side, and there could be slight changes in the camera bar. Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in July 2022.
What the leaks reveal about the Galaxy Z Fold 5
Well-known tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) has recently posted alleged renders of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 cases. The transparent cases feature cut-outs for the power button and volume rockers on the spines and the bottom for the speaker and USB Type-C port. There is also a cut-out at the rear to show off the camera unit, which seems to feature much of the same design choices as its predecessor. However, the LED flash appears to have moved right next to the camera, whereas the Galaxy Z Fold 4 features the flash right under the triple rear cameras. The upcoming model could have a similar hinge design to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and feature an IPX8 build.
Expected specifications and features of the Galaxy Z Fold 5
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to have a 6.2-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display with 120Hz refresh rate, following in the footsteps of the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The smartphone is rumoured to run on One UI 5.1.1 based on Android 13 and be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy SoC. It could also pack 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The cameras are expected to feature a 50-megapixel primary, 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 10-megapixel telephoto. The new ‘droplet’ hinge design could add to the durability of the foldable device.
Release date and price of the Galaxy Z Fold 5
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to launch in July rather than in late August, along with the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The smartphone could have a price tag of $1,799 (roughly Rs. 1,47,000), similar to the outgoing model. With these features and specifications, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 could give tough competition to other foldable devices in the market.
