Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 series release has been a topic of debate since the beginning of 2022 as it remained absent from the company’s Unpacked event this year. News about the tablet’s release has been scarce until recently when leaks and rumours have begun surfacing about the device. The latest leak from tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) sheds some light on the most high-end model in Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 series – the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.
Dimensions and Display
According to Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra’s hardware is very similar to the current model, with the same dimensions as the outgoing Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The size of the upcoming tablet screen will also be similar, equipped with a 14.6-inch panel with a resolution of 2,960 x 1,848 pixels (WQXGA+). While the refresh rate of the display remains undisclosed, we can expect it to be on par with its predecessor.
Design, Weight and IP Rating
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra will sport an IP68 rating, which is an upgrade from the previous leak’s claim that the entire Galaxy Tab S9 series would have an IP67 rating. The upcoming tablet is expected to weigh 737g, similar to the outgoing model. The tablet’s design will also remain unchanged, giving it a familiar look and feel to users.
Battery and Charging Speeds
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is set to have a similar battery capacity and charging speed as its predecessor, housing an 11,200mAh battery and supporting 45W wired charging.
Processor and RAM
Similar to the latest Galaxy S23 series, the new Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra will most likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Ice Universe’s leak indicated that the device could also feature a 16GB LPDDR5X RAM option, which was also part of the outgoing Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. It remains to be seen whether Samsung will opt for a customised platform for the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra or stick to the regular processor.
While these leaks offer insight into the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, they’re all still rumours until the official release, expected to be in the second half of this year. Fans of Samsung can anticipate the company formally announcing its release and features.
