Refining Commendations in Guardian Ranks: Destiny 2 Update Fixes Quicksilver Storm

For Destiny 2 players, a new update has recently rolled out and while it may not be extensive, it still offers significant changes. Under the hotfix 7.0.0.7 patch notes, the update focuses on the Lightfall’s Root of Nightmares raid, Guardian Ranks’ commendations, and two underperforming Exotic weapons.

Raid Fix

Nezarec, the Final God of Pain, will no longer be puzzled by the display of empowering space-magic when a Warlock on your team pops their Well of Radiance Super. With this fix, expect Nezarec to snap out of his confused state and put that gigantic scythe of his to good use.

Exotic Weapons Buff

The Quicksilver Storm and Touch of Malice have been modified to work better against red-bar enemies to make them more tactical during gameplay. The Quicksilver Storm will now deal 40% extra damage against cannon fodder enemies.

This will be helpful for those players who wish to control crowds with experimental Neomuna weaponry or while using a scout rifle possessing the dark essence of a fallen Hive god.

Guardian Ranks’ Commendations

The hotfix reduces the Commendation score necessary to complete Guardian Rank goals by a substantial amount for Ranks 7-9. This will be a relief for those players who grinded through these ranks during social events as reaching the threshold will now require less effort than before.

It is worth noting that Hawthorne’s weekly challenge has also been decreased by 75% and the hotfix eliminates the requirement for giving commendations in Ranks 7-9.

Enemy Health Reduction in High-Level PvE Activities

Other changes made by the hotfix include the reduction of enemy health in Legend and Master-tier Nightfalls, Battlegrounds, Lost Sectors, Offensives, Hunts, and Legend/Master campaign missions. These changes are to add balance to these activities where some enemies can soak up a considerable amount of damage.

Minor Issues

The hotfix also resolved several minor issues such as fewer high-level enemies roaming Neomuna, missing Riskrunner Exotic catalysts, and a nerf for the Flare Up artifact perk in PvP.

Destiny 2 Hotfix 7.0.0.7 also includes the following changes:

Trials of Osiris

Wins on a seven-win Trials Passage will now reward Trials of Osiris engrams which can be focused.

Neomuna Freeroam

The prevalence of elite enemies will be reduced to minimize the base difficulty of Freeroam. Also, Cabal turrets in Ahimsa Park will no longer respawn too quickly.

Difficulty

The combatant health scaling for two- and three-player fireteams is now reduced in the Season 20 Legendary Exotic mission.

UI/UX

The Commendation score required for Guardian Ranks 7-9 has been reduced:

  • Rank 7 is now 100 (previously 460)
  • Rank 8 is now 250 (previously 790)
  • Rank 9 is now 500 (previously 1290)

Guardian Rank objectives that require commendations for Ranks 7-9 are also removed. The number of commendations required for Hawthorne’s weekly challenge is reduced from 20 to 5.

Armor

The number of additional scorch stacks added by the Flare Up artifact perk in PvP is reduced to 15 (down from 30).

Weapons

The Target Lock trait will deactivate correctly on a miss when the weapon is firing at 720 RPM or higher. The Riskrunner catalyst is now obtainable, and Quicksilver Storm and Touch of Malice will receive the 40% damage bonus against minor enemies.

Power and Progression

Ghost and weapon mods will unlock properly when progressing through Guardian Ranks, and players who are new to the game will no longer miss access to patrol destinations.
