Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the highly-anticipated sequel to 2019’s Fallen Order, is shaping up to be a promising addition to the Star Wars canon. The game takes place five years after the events of the first game, and once again follows protagonist Cal Kestis as he navigates the dangers of the Galactic Empire and hunts for replacement parts for his ship.
Chapter Two of Survivor, which was previewed by the writer, introduces some intriguing new ideas and potentially interesting character dynamics. The game continues to reward quick thinking and reflexes in its fast-paced combat, as Cal wields his lightsaber and a variety of force powers to defeat his enemies.
One of the most exciting aspects of Survivor, however, is its potential connection to The High Republic. A 300-year period in the Star Wars timeline that has only recently been explored in comics and novels, The High Republic represents the golden age of the Republic and the Jedi Order. Survivor’s tie-in to this era could potentially bring more of its lore and history into the present-day Skywalker Saga.
Despite some minor issues with enemy design and combat scenarios in the preview, Survivor still has plenty of potential to live up to expectations and deliver a strong addition to the Star Wars universe. Fans of the first game, as well as those interested in The High Republic, will not want to miss out on this exciting new addition to the Star Wars video game canon.
