In a disappointing turn of events, E3 2023 has been canceled. However, this doesn’t mean that gamers won’t have anything to look forward to this summer. High-profile showcases are slated for June, beginning with Geoffrey Keighley’s Summer Game Fest on June 8 and continuing with Xbox and Starfield events throughout the weekend. Other events such as the PC Gaming Show and Ubisoft Forward will follow soon afterward. Additionally, Gamescom will be held in August, with its highly anticipated Opening Night Live event taking place on August 22.
Summer Game Fest: June 8
Summer Games Fest 2023 will be held on June 8 at the YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park. While there is no specific time for the event yet, attendees can purchase tickets to experience hands-on gameplay of some of the games featured at the showcase. The Summer Game Fest will be a great opportunity to check out new trailers, news, and reveals. 2015’s featured partners included 2K, Activision, Capcom, Atlus, EA, Sega, Netflix, and other game development giants and media services.
Xbox Games Showcase: June 11
10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, 6 PM BST
Microsoft will be hosting two events on June 11, with the Xbox Games Showcase being the first of the two. Players can expect to see new releases from Xbox, including Forza Motorsport and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. There might also be announcements related to game development projects and Xbox products, including Avowed, Fable, The Outer Worlds 2, Perfect Dark, Rare’s Everwild, and the rumored new Gears game.
Starfield Showcase: June 11
Immediately following the Xbox Games Showcase, the Starfield Direct will dive deep into the sci-fi RPG game that has fans excited. It will feature an in-depth dive into the upcoming game created by the team that developed Fallout 4 and Skyrim. The event will give players reasons to become invested in the game before its highly anticipated launch date in September.
PC Gaming Show: June 11
Returning on June 11, the PC Gaming Show is shaping up to be an exciting event. Taking place after the Xbox Games Showcase and the Starfield Showcase, a specific time for the event has not yet been announced. PC Gamer has promised more details on the event in the coming days. It will be hosted by Sean “Day9” Plott, who has previously hosted the event in 2015 and every year since.
Ubisoft Forward: June 12
10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, 6 PM BST
Ubisoft Forward is an event taking place on June 12th, broadcast live from Los Angeles. The event’s focus is on “game updates and reveals,” although not much else is known beyond that. Some games that might make an appearance include Skull & Bones, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
Xbox Games Showcase Extended: June 13
10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, 6 PM BST
On June 13th, the Xbox Games Showcase Extended will feature in-depth interviews covering news from the Xbox Games Showcase and game updates from Xbox partners.
Gamescom Opening Night Live: August 22
Although no specific time has been confirmed, Gamescom Opening Night Live’s event is usually where surprises are revealed and memorable trailers are shown. The event marks the beginning of Gamescom, which will run from August 23-27 at the Koelnmesse exhibition center.
