The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a special feature called Autobuild that allows you to create designs easily and quickly. It can be unlocked by progressing in the Depths/Chasm quest chain. Here’s a guide on how to unlock and use the Autobuild system.
How to Unlock Autobuild
To unlock the Autobuild feature, you have to complete a few steps in the Depths/Chasm quest chain.
Help Robbie in the Depths to Obtain the Purah Pad Camera
After you help Robbie, he will give you the Purah Pad Camera item, which is necessary to progress.
Follow the Statues in the Depths to Reach the Great Abandoned Central Mine
When you return to Lookout Landing, you will learn about underground facilities, where statues point the way. Go back to the location in the Depths (Hyrule Field Chasm) and follow the statues, starting with the one that you took a photo of earlier. Eventually, you will reach the Great Abandoned Central Mine.
Interact with the Terminal in the Great Abandoned Central Mine
Once you reach the Great Abandoned Central Mine, interact with the terminal there to learn about the Autobuild system. However, Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan will show up and you will have to defeat him for a chance to use the Autobuild system.
How Autobuild Works
Once you learn the Autobuild system, you can start using it by holding the L button and selecting it. You will then see various schematics that you have learned (usually after defeating Kohga in the Depths). When you select a design, it will create a purple aura around Link. Any valid item that is part of that design will get moved closer to the center. Once you press the A button, that item/vehicle/contraption will get created, with all parts instantly attached.
If you lack the necessary items, you will use up Zonaite in the process. The cost of creating structures or vehicles from scratch will increase depending on the complexity and types of devices used. The parts you lack will have a bright green color to denote the difference.
Autobuild Design Tips and Saving Your Favorites
Here are a few tips to help you maximize the use of the Autobuild system:
- The last 30 things that you created using the Ultrahand will get saved under the history tab.
- If you like a particular combination, save it as a favorite by pressing the Y button. You can have up to eight favorite designs at any given time.
- Pick something that is cost-effective when choosing among schematics or history tab designs.
- You can spawn objects when you need them most.
- Do not detach any of the green items that you lack, as they will disappear for good.
