Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the highly anticipated game from Insomniac Games, is set to arrive in Fall of 2023. Fans of the first game have been eagerly waiting for the sequel since its announcement in September 2021. Release Date
While Sony has officially announced the release window for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as Fall 2023, actor Tony Todd, who voices Venom in the game, may have accidentally revealed that the game could be launching in September. Although Todd’s tweet has since been deleted, fans are hopeful that the game will arrive sooner than expected. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be the first game in the series to be exclusive to PlayStation 5, and there is currently no word on a PC port for the game.
Platforms
Previous games in the Spider-Man series have been released on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, but Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be exclusive to PlayStation 5. There is currently no information about whether or not the game will be released on PC or other gaming platforms.
Co-op Gameplay
Although the reveal trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 hinted at tag-team action between Peter Parker and Miles Morales, Insomniac has confirmed that the game will be a single-player experience. Insomniac’s Ryan Schneider stated in a PS Blog post last year that the studio is “thrilled to continue the journey of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their most epic single-player adventure yet.”
Changes to Gameplay
In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, players will once again take control of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. While Parker has an arsenal of gadgets, Morales is equipped with bio-electric powers. The reveal trailer for the game hints at Parker upgrading his suit to keep up with Morales, but beyond that, not much is known about how the gameplay will change in this new chapter of the series.
Villains
Venom is the only villain confirmed for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 so far, but the reveal trailer suggests that Kraven the Hunter will be the game’s primary antagonist. Insomniac has not confirmed any other villains for the game, but the studio is known for including a wide range of classic Spider-Man villains in their games. Fans of the series can expect to see iconic villains such as Electro, Mister Negative, Vulture, Scorpion, Doc Ock, and Rhino make an appearance.
Unlockable Costumes
In the previous Spider-Man games, players were able to unlock new costumes for the web-slinging hero. Although Insomniac has not yet confirmed that new costumes will be available in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the reveal trailer hints at “new abilities our heroes will acquire, suits they will wear, and the villains that will try to hunt them down.”
