iOS 15.7.5 update brings security patches for older iPhone and iPad models; Here’s what you need to know

Apple, in its continued efforts to prioritize the privacy and security of its devices, has released a new software upgrade for older iPhone and iPad models. The iOS 15.7.5 update aims to address vulnerabilities in the core tech system of these devices that may have been exploited in the past. An earlier update, 15.7.4, was released just a week prior and also contained significant security patches.

What the iOS 15.7.5 Update Does

According to reports, the latest update focuses on securing the IOSurfaceAccelerator and WebKit vulnerabilities in older iPhone and iPad models. These patches will help prevent the execution of arbitrary code by maliciously designed web content and apps. Apple recommends that all users of the eligible devices download and install the update immediately to protect against these threats.

Aaron Zollo, a tech tipster with over 100,000 Twitter followers, shared an image of the upgrade being rolled out on the micro-blogging platform, confirming its release.

Eligible Devices for the Update

The update is available for Apple devices including all models of iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone SE, iPad Air 2, iPad mini (4th generation), and iPod touch (7th generation). With more than 1.5 billion users worldwide, the iPhone remains incredibly popular, and the company recognizes the importance of maintaining its hefty sales figures by ensuring its device lineup is kept up to date.

Apple’s Sales Figures

In 2022, Apple’s total net sales reached $394.33 billion, marking a YoY increase of 2.44 percent from the previous year. As per the DemandSage report, the iPhone accounts for a significant portion of those sales figures.

macOS Updates

Aside from the iOS update, Apple is also rolling out the macOS Big Sur 11.7.6 (20G1231) and macOS Monterey 12.6.5 (21G531) for its laptops, as reported by 9To5Mac. These updates should improve the user experience, fixing bugs and addressing potential security issues.

Expanding Retail Presence

Aside from enhancing its products, Apple is also expanding its retail presence in different parts of the world. The company is all set to inaugurate its first two Apple Stores in Mumbai and Delhi later this month, enabling Indian customers to experience the latest Apple product lineup and avail of personalized service and support from the new stores.

With increasing concerns over online security threats, Apple continues to prioritize the privacy and security of its devices. By releasing these updates, the company aims to address vulnerabilities in its core tech system and ensure that its devices remain up to date and secure. Apple recommends that all eligible users download and install the update as soon as possible.
