Google Pixel 7a Set to Launch on May 11 with Image Teased on Flipkart

Google’s annual event, Google I/O 2023, is set to take place on May 10. The tech company is expected to reveal two new Pixel phones, one of which is confirmed to be their first-ever foldable phone, the Pixel Fold. Alongside this, another device is said to be launched, which speculators believe will be called the Pixel 7a. The Pixel 7a’s official launch in India is confirmed to happen on May 11 through a promotional banner on an e-commerce site. The phone will come in a snow-white colourway, succeeding the Pixel 6a, and images of the device have surfaced on Flipkart.

Pixel 7a: What We Know So Far

According to the promotional banner found on Flipkart, the Pixel 7a carries a similar design with the Pixel 7 series. Yet, no significant details about its specifications and features have been shared by the company officially.

However, rumours and leaks reveal expected specifications, including:

  • A 6.1-inch Full-HD+ display
  • A 90Hz refresh rate
  • Dual rear camera unit, led by a 64-megapixel primary sensor, with a 12-megapixel sensor ultra-wide lens
  • A 13-megapixel front camera
  • Powered by a Tensor G2 SoC

The device is expected to be available in Arctic Blue, Carbon, and Cotton colourways, with an estimated price range of $450 to $500 (roughly Rs. 32,000 to Rs. 40,000).

Pixel Fold: What to Expect

Google also teased the upcoming Pixel Fold phone, showcasing its design, hinge mechanism, inner display, and underlying software. The phone features a chunky camera module with three cameras and an LED flash. Speculations predict the phone runs on Google’s Tensor G2 SoC with two displays:

  • A 5.8-inch OLED outer display (1,080×2,092 pixels) with a 17.4:9 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate
  • A 7.6-inch inner display (1,840 x 2,208 pixels) with a 6:5 aspect ratio

More details are expected to be revealed during Google I/O 2023’s two-day event, which will feature keynotes, technical sessions, and more.

The rumoured release of the Pixel 7a and the confirmation of the Pixel Fold during Google I/O 2023 signals the tech giant’s push into the future of technology. With the Pixel 7a’s mid-range cost and expected high-end features, Google aims to provide budget-friendly yet top-notch devices for consumers. And with the Pixel Fold’s innovative folding design, it proves that tech companies continue to push boundaries in creating the next big thing in smartphones.
