Cod Warzone Season 3: Exciting New Features and DMZ Overhaul in Latest Roadmap Update

A new season of Call of Duty is set to arrive on April 12, and Activision has released the roadmap for Season 3 of Warzone 2. There are several exciting announcements for players who are eager to explore new content in the game. Here are the major announcements for Season 3 of Warzone 2:

New Weapons and Operators

The upcoming season of Modern Warfare 2 will add four new weapons, including the iconic Intervention sniper rifle, which is now rebranded as the FJX Imperium sniper. Players can also expect the Cronen Squall battle rifle. The battle pass brings two new sidearms, which are not named but are described as being fully-automatic weapons.

On top of this, players can unlock Alejandro Vargas and Valeria Garza from the Modern Warfare 2 campaign in the premium tiers of the battle pass. More operators will arrive during the season and could be available as shop bundles. A beefier version of the battle pass bundle, Blackcell, will also be introduced in Season 3, with over 7,000 CoD Points’ worth of value at $30.

New Event Challenges

Trophy Hunt

Season 3 of Warzone 2 introduces Call of Duty’s Trophy Hunt event starting two days after the launch of the new season. Every player drops a “trophy” – a small, decorative coin – whenever they are eliminated from the game in any mode. Players can collect these trophies by picking them up or performing specific tasks, like opening supply boxes, and exchange them for items like weapon blueprints, vehicle skins, and battle pass token tier skips.

Camo Challenge Event

Similar to Season 2’s Path of the Ronin camo challenge event, the mid-season update will bring a camo challenge event in Season 3. However, more details will be released closer to the time.

Battle Royale

New Modes

New modes are being added to Warzone 2, including a new respawn mode called “Massive Resurgence.” Al Mazrah will be the location of the mode, and up to 150 players can participate in various squad sizes. The mode will be ready to go at the launch of Season 3.

Later in the season, Plunder mode from Warzone 1 will be added to Warzone 2. Activision hasn’t confirmed if it will be playable on both maps or just one. Plunder is a respawn mode where the team with the most cash at the end of the game wins.

Warzone Ranked

Finally, Warzone 2 is introducing a new competitive mode: Warzone Ranked. It will be played in trios with a leaderboard and other features. Players who enjoy competing against others for the best of the best will want to check this one out.

New Gulag and Features

Al Marzrah’s previous prison gulag is being replaced with a new 1v1 area in Season 3. This new area, called “Blacksite,” is described as a roughly rectangular, asymmetrical map with several interior spaces and long external routes, and it will be the site of a new map location on Al Mazrah. The existing location for the Blacksite Gulag is teased as being “Redacted.”

In Season 2, Redeploy Drones were added to Ashika Island, and they are now being added to Al Mazrah in Season 3. This change provides players with a new way to traverse Warzone 2’s larger map. The launch of the season is also introducing DMZ’s UAV towers, letting players interact with them and reap several UAV sweeps from the tower’s location.

Season 3 of Warzone 2 is introducing Tempered Plate Carriers, previously seen in Warzone 1’s Caldera. They’ll be added to change players’ armor plates, such that with a Tempered Plate Carrier, a player’s armor will be two half-bars instead of three thirds, making it easier and more efficient to re-plate after a fight.

The mid-season update will include additional features such as Caldera’s decontamination stations, deployable Buy Stations, and more.

DMZ

Season 3 of Warzone 2 will feature a massive overhaul of DMZ. However, unlike the full wipe that happened with Season 2’s launch, this is just a ton of new updates being added to the mode.

The upcoming barter system will allow players to swap goods at a buy station, instead of being forced to sell scavenged items for cash. Additionally, Workbenches are being added, featuring locations on the map near Buy Stations. Players can modify their Contraband weapons and spend cash to add or remove attachments piece by piece.

Active Duty Operators bring another significant change. Every player will start with three Active Duty Operator Slots, which are separate operators with their own unique loadout, including backpack, plate carrier, killstreaks, self-revive, and gas mask. This allows players to gear up for specific missions and make each infiltration into DMZ much more efficient.

Other changes include the addition of a DMZ boss, found underground in Al Mazrah, who is being teased for release later in the season.

So there you have it: the major announcements for Season 3 of Warzone 2. Fans of Call of Duty have plenty of new maps, weapons, and modes to look forward to. With up to 150 players battling it out and competitive modes like Warzone Ranked arriving, gamers are in for a treat with the upcoming season launch.
