Amazon Prime members are in for a treat this May as Prime Gaming has announced that it will be offering 15 free games and more for subscribers. The free games will be available in groups every Thursday throughout the month for Prime members to claim and keep, even if their subscription expires.
May 4: Star Wars Day Kicks Off the Giveaways
The free giveaways will start on May 4, which is Star Wars Day, and appropriately, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 3D will be leading the first group of free games. The classic dogfighting game, originally released in 1998, lets players play as Luke Skywalker and battle with X-wings and snowspeeders against the Empire in a post-Death-Star world. Super Sidekicks and Samurai Shodown IV will also be available for download on May 4.
May 11: RPG and Classic Arcade Games
On May 11, three more games will be up for grabs: Planescape Torment’s Enhanced Edition, Lake, and Robo Army.
Planescape Torment: Enhanced Edition
Planescape Torment is an RPG that initially released in 1999 and has received several awards for its well-developed storyline, characters, and music. Enhanced Edition comes with quality-of-life improvements and a new interface to cater to modern gamers.
Lake and Robo Army
Lake is a game about taking a break from the hustle and bustle of modern life and stepping into the shoes of a mail carrier in a peaceful town in Oregon. Meanwhile, Robo Army, which is a classic SNK arcade game that originally released in 1991, is a side-scrolling shooter where players get to control two characters and their mechs fighting against evil robots.
May 18: More Arcade Games and Board Games
On May 18, Prime members can claim Kardboard Kings, 3 Count Bout, Alpha Mission 2, and The Almost Gone.
Kardboard Kings
Kardboard Kings is a virtual recreation of a board game of the same name. It’s a racing and betting game where players get to hire drivers and bet on them to win.
3 Count Bout and Alpha Mission 2
3 Count Bout and Alpha Mission 2 are both classic SNK arcade games that originally released in 1993 and 1991, respectively. 3 Count Bout is a wrestling game whereas Alpha Mission 2 is a side-scrolling shooter with RPG elements.
The Almost Gone
The Almost Gone is an adventure game developed by Happy Volcano, where players get to solve puzzles and uncover secrets in diorama-like environments, guided by the narrator voiced by Belgian actress Emily Baiden.
May 25: More Action and Adventure Games
The last batch of free games on May 25 includes Lila’s Sky Ark, Agatha Knife, King of the Monsters 2, and Kizuna Encounter.
Lila’s Sky Ark and Agatha Knife
Lila’s Sky Ark is a sci-fi action-adventure game developed by Carol Garcia where players get to take on the role of Lila, the captain of the Sky Ark, and navigate through treacherous terrains and battle against enemies. Agatha Knife, on the other hand, is a dark comedy adventure game where players get to control Agatha, a young girl who runs a butcher shop and wants to create her own religion.
King of the Monsters 2 and Kizuna Encounter
King of the Monsters 2 and Kizuna Encounter are both classic arcade games that originally released in 1992 and 1996, respectively. King of the Monsters 2 is a fighting game where players get to control giant monsters and fight against each other. Kizuna Encounter is also a fighting game that takes place in a futuristic world where players get to control pairs of characters who have special moves and can even perform combination attacks.
Free Loot for Popular Multiplayer Games
Aside from the free games, Prime Gaming members can also grab free loot for popular multiplayer games such as Genshin Impact, Valorant, Destiny 2, Hearthstone, and more. Prime members can also stream several games via Amazon Luna’s Prime Gaming Channel. The list of streamable games for May includes Lego DC Super-Villains, Resident Evil 2, Overcooked, and Frog Island.
